Infant – 11 Weeks

So Friday Ethan turned 11 weeks old. I can’t believe how fast this time has passed! He has been so precious and such a good baby. He’s been cooing a ton, smiling, and the biggest thing… sleeping through the nights! I didn’t expect it this soon, and he’s done it on his own. He does wake up pretty early though, 5:30, but I’m not complaining. As we speak he’s sleeping on me snoring 🙂 I’ve gotten him to laugh twice, working really hard on getting him to laugh again. He’s fascinated with the mobile in his crib, he loves it! He kicks the side of his crib while he looks at it and coos. As of Saturday, I’ve officially stopped pumping. I decided to stop because on Friday before I left for work, I pumped for 20 minutes and got 1oz… That’s it for now.

10 weeks

Ethan is 10 weeks and 2 days old today. I’m back at work and enjoying it. I do wish that I could work fewer hours for awhile as I feel like there is not enough time in the day to get everything done that needs to get done. Our house is a giant mess 🙂 Jarrod (my husband) has been watching Ethan while I’m at work. It’s been going great. Ethan has been such a happy and independent baby and he’s able to work with him at home. It’s funny how things can change week to week. Friend’s kept telling me things would get easier and they were right.  5 weeks ago, I would have never thought it would be possible for Jarrod to watch Ethan and get work done.

Ethan eats 6oz about every 4 hours. He is waking every night about 12-1 and 4-5 to eat. He’ll pretty much eat and go right back to bed. At his 2 month Dr.’s appointment he weighed 11 pounds 6oz and was 22 3/4 inches long. Ethan is mostly on formula, though I pump twice a day. Once before work, and once when I get home. I usually get about 1 bottle for him of breastmilk. I wish it was more, but it is what it is. When I was pumping more, I still only got about a bottle of bm.

We’ve decided to do an alternate vaccine schedule. We are following the Dr. Sears Vaccine Book. He will get all of his shots, just spread out into more Dr.’s visits. I would highly recommend reading the book. It discusses each vaccine, what’s in it, and what the statistics are for the disease it prevents.

As for me… I still have about 8 or 9 lbs to lose. I really thought the weight would just come off because I’ve never had a problem with weight in my life. I weigh about 128-130. I was 121 when I got pregnant. I’ve had a couple of sessions with a personal trainer who has given me a workout routine to do from home. I am going to buy an elliptical machine. I figure it will be a lot easier to workout from home than trying to get out of the house.

Weeks 3-6

Ethan turned 6 weeks on Friday! I can’t believe how quickly the time has passed! Each week so far has been a new experience and there have definitely been ups and downs. Nothing can prepare you for motherhood. It is the toughest thing I have ever experienced in my life. I go back to work in a week and I feel like that will be a break 🙂 I’m feeding him about 2/3 formula 1/3 breastmilk. Last week (week 5) he was extremely fussy and needed to be held constantly. I started him on a different formula with less lactose and I think that that’s been helping, he seems to be much happier. The options for baby formula are terrible. Corn Syrup is the #1 ingredient in the Enfamil Gentlease formula (less lactose). I ordered one can from and that will be the last. I can’t understand how these companies can get away with this. The best formula I’ve found so far is Baby’s Only, though it’s extremely hard to find. Every other formula has DHA in it. You would assume that would be a good thing, but from doing some research it’s not. The DHA in formula is manufactured.  Anyway, that’s all for now 🙂
